NIA Celebrates Spring NIA leadership - Michael Bove, President; Mary Anne Cino, CEO; and Rosa Casella, Executive Director - couldn’t be more proud of the work being done in their after-school programs.
The NIA After-School Program at PS 247 welcomed in spring with a special salute to the traditional holiday of May Day. Parents were invited to join in on the fun and worked side by side with their children to create festive spring hats, flower baskets, and miniature maypoles.
Parents and children alike enjoyed a special performance by kindergarten and fifth grade participants. This year, Program Director, Kathy D’Antuono, created a buddy system, pairing fifth graders with kindergarten buddies to take under their wing, help through homework, and guide through activities. To celebrate spring, the buddies danced around a maypole and sang along while NIA music instructor, Mr. Eli, accompanied them on guitar.
