NIA/IS 281 After-School Program

The NIA/IS 281 (Joseph B. Cavallaro) after-school program, funded by Comprehensive After School System of NYC (COMPASS NYC) , NDA (Neighborhood Development Area), and Advantage After-School, provides educational enrichment and homework assistance that enables students to succeed academically. Our program runs Monday through Friday from 2:20-5:20 pm.

This free program aims to improve students’ academic focus, especially those students with serious barriers to achievement, improve student's report card scores in selected subject area as well as in core subject areas through after-school learning activities. The program offers students Homework Help; the Mighty Milers running program; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities; Achieve 3000 for English Language Learners (ELL) students; Leadership activities; Sewing; Cooking; Yu-Gi-Oh!; Robotics; Computer; Drama; Visual Arts; Musical theater; and Dance Crew.
