NIA/PS 186K ExpandED After-School Program

Our program gives students the opportunity to express themselves physically and creatively and is especially important in a community as culturally and linguistically diverse as PS 186. NIA has also partnered with TASC (The After-School Corporation) to bring the ExpandED Program to PS 186 that gives students more time and a wider range of opportunities to learn than in the conventional school day.

NIA/TASC ExpandED program at PS 186 supplements the school day curriculum with hands-on projects, small group instruction, physical education and the arts. Homework Help; "Dare to Be You" self-esteem workshops; the Mighty Milers running program; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities; Achieve 3000 for English Language Learners (ELL) students; Sewing; Cooking; Yu-Gi-Oh!; Robotics; Computer; Drama; Visual Arts; Cheerleading; Dance Crew; and Guidance Services.

Our free services run Mondays through Fridays from 2:20 PM to 5:20 PM, and provide each student with a hot meal at the beginning of the program day. In addition to our regular NIA schedule, we are open on select non-school days during holidays. We are located at 7601 19 Avenue, Brooklyn, NY. If you would like to place your child on the waiting list for the NIA After-School Program at PS 186, please contact Vivian Barreto via email
