NIA Counseling

The NIA provides free counseling and referral services for children and youth ages 5 to 21, and their family members as appropriate, in regard to their presenting conditions which include school-related problems and family issues.

Recognizing the many difficulties and complex issues facing children and youth, the NIA Counseling Program strives to ensure progress toward our vision that participants will experience an improved quality of life. Counselors provide guidance and teach the skills necessary to help youth reduce their risks of becoming juvenile delinquents, youthful offenders, and low-functioning adults.

Our cost-free program aims to help targeted youth who are experiencing school-related problems learn new skills that increase their ability to improve their behavior in a school setting and increase their educational success; to help youth experiencing family related problems (including domestic violence/abuse, parental divorce/separation stress, and difficult parent/child relationships) that negatively impact their lives learn new skills to improve their relationships and overall functional level; and to help youth who are members of a troubled, low-functioning home environment experience improved conditions within the family unit by learning new skills to improve relationships and family stability.

Using our proven record and demonstrated knowledge in youth counseling, our counseling program empowers at risk youth and helps them reduce risk factors and increase protective measures that will aid them in solving problems or responding to difficult situations and stressful life events in a positive way.
