NIA Sponsors End of Summer Picnic
for Senior Citizens

As part of the our long standing commitment to the elderly citizens of southwest Brooklyn, the NIA joined Assemblyman Peter Abbate and Councilman Vincent Gentile to sponsor three picnics for senior citizens on the grounds of the Ft. Hamilton Officers’ Club.

The September picnics at the Ft. Hamilton Army Base give seniors an opportunity to end the summer at the foot of the Verranzano Bridge having a good time with their friends from local senior citizen centers. More than 400 senior citizens attended each of the picnics and everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather, good food and music.

Funding for the picnics are provided through grants secured by Assemblyman Peter Abbate and Councilman Vincent Gentile.
