NIA Receives 2nd Grant from Investors Foundation to Support with Free Community Events and Services

NIA Community Services Network recently received a $15,000 grant from Investors Foundation at the Investors’ Dyker Heights Branch located at 7414 13th Avenue. This grant will further NIA’s mission to strengthen and empower children, families, and communities by providing thousands of people across Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island with events and experiences that will bring a strong sense of togetherness as we enter our second year of the pandemic.

“It is once again an honor for NIA to receive this grant and recognition from Investors Bank, our dedicated community partner. We are grateful to have their continued support with our free annual events and with our first-ever Virtual 5K Run and Walk, which will help sustain and expand our community efforts across NYC,” says NIA President Michael A. Bové and CEO Mary Anne Cino in a joint statement.

The NIA@40 5K Virtual Run and Walk, held in honor of the organization’s 40th anniversary, will run from May 20th-May 31st. The funding will support access to essentials like food and social services, increase educational opportunities for youth and adults, and provide resources and programs benefitting over 10,000 New Yorkers. The funding will also go toward NIA’s 9/11 Vigil and Christmas Tree Lightings in Brooklyn, both of which have become important annual traditions in the communities they serve and have changed to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions.
