NIA's Annual Read Out Loud Campaign 2023

“NIA’s Annual Read Out Loud Campaign Starts In February”

On February 1st, World Read Aloud Day, NIA Community Services Network will launch our 2nd Annual Read Out Loud Campaign. Every week from then until March 2nd (Read Across America Day), we’ll be hosting free book giveaways and a series of free in-person and virtual visits from authors, illustrators, and special guests.

During last year's campaign, NIA brought visiting authors to 12 after-school locations, distributed approximately 3,000 new books, helped establish after-school libraries, and provided extra hours of literacy engagement activities through our Ready Readers initiative. We also held a writing contest for students and a number of family literacy events to get parents engaged in reading with their children. This year, we’re expanding the scope of this campaign to include even more schools across Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Queens.NIA’s Read Out Loud Campaign will raise funds to strengthen our after-school literacy programs in over 45 New York City public schools and will impact over 6,000 students.

Maimonides Medical Center, Scholastic, Investors Bank, National Grid, NYC Ferry, and 7x24 Exchange are sponsoring this campaign.
