After School Students Celebrate NIA Day
NIA Day is a celebration of our anniversary of incorporation on May 26th. This year’s celebrations are especially exciting as it marks our 40th anniversary and coincides with our first-ever Virtual 5K Run & Walk (May 20-31). Students and staff throughout our after school programs have been getting in the spirit by engaging in fun activities, like the NIA/IS 281 SONYC ice cream event pictured above, and by answering the question, “What does NIA mean to you?” See below for some NIA Day program highlights!
NIA/PS 185 virtual participants told us what NIA means to them.
NIA at PS/IS 30 participants also told us what NIA means to them! See their meaningful messages below.
NIA/MS 443 participants made a beautiful chalk mural to commemorate our 40th anniversary.
NIA/IS 281 participants celebrated all week long with ice cream, student and staff awards, and a food truck.
NIA/PS 186 participants posed for celebratory photos and told us why they love NIA!
NIA/PS 190 participants celebrated by making NIA blue cookies, dancing, singing, and telling us what NIA means to them.
NIA/PS 229 participants told us what NIA means to them and had a fun pizza party.
Thanks to all who celebrated NIA Day with us! If you missed the celebrations, comment below to let us know what NIA means to you! You can also take our after school or community survey here.
